Life as a Scholar
Life as an Oliver Scholar is an experience that changes the trajectory of a young person's life because we open the door to unique opportunities for a high quality education.
Life in the independent school world is different. The expectations are higher, and your peers are likely to have lived lives that may seem to be an alternate reality. We understand how things work in that world because 1) it's our job, and 2) some of our staff are themselves Oliver alumni. Our Scholars respect the opinions of the members of our team because they know that they have already walked the walk.
Your future holds a variety of activities designed to help you create a path to success. That includes counseling; community service events; mentoring; bi-annual student conferences; on-campus visits by Scholar Services Coordinators; tutoring (when needed); special events such as TuesdayTalks@Oliver, Career Day, Community Service Day, and the In Our Own Voices Leadership Conference. Moreover, Oliver provides SAT prep, and college tours during each Scholar's junior and senior years of high school so you can get a better sense of what some of the schools that you will be applying to are like.
As you grow into your life as a Scholar, embracing a disciplined approach to your responsibilities, your capacity for compassion, resilience, and tenacity will increase. Ultimately, you will become effective leaders no matter what path you pursue, in college and beyond.
