Program Events

Scholarship, leadership and service. These are our core values, and all of our programmatic activities and special events are based on some combination of these traits. We teach our Scholars to embrace who they are by pursuing their goals with a focused passion and intensity. Rigorous academics and meaningful leadership development workshops and seminars are the norm, and each year we have signature events that help our Scholars to realize their aspirations:

TuesdayTalks @ Oliver

Throughout the year, Scholars are invited to hear from Oliver alumni and other professionals in a range of fields. Talks are held after school at the Oliver offices at 80 Maiden Lane. TuesdayTalks are open to any high school student in NYC on a first come, first serve basis. Oliver students are encouraged to bring their independent school friends and we weclome guests from Prep for Prep, Teak, ABC, Breakthrough, NJ SEEDS, and other programs.

Community Service Day

Community Service Day is our annual working celebration of giving back. It takes place during Thanksgiving week each year, providing Scholars in day and boarding schools with an opportunity to reconnect with one another, while giving back and serving the community.

In Our Own Voices

In Our Own Voices is a leadership training conference designed by the Scholar Services team. All of the day's activities give Scholars the opportunity to learn how to earn respect from peers, parents, teachers, and beyond, using thoughtful communication techniques and strategies. They build their confidence in themselves and their ability to say what they mean, mean what that say, and say it concisely.
